Andrew Guzman
Title: Inter Club Council (ICC) Co-Chairs

Having come from a low-income family, I did not prioritize school as a teenager, and as a result, I earned my high school diploma three years late and at the age of 21. Since then, I have managed to organize my life and return to school at 27 as a full-time, first-generation college student in the Spring of 2022. I have since accomplished earning a 4.0 GPA during the last Spring, Fall, and Winter semesters. Currently, I am pursuing 3 AA-Ts: Communication Studies, Sociology, and Social Justice. It is a goal of mine to continue down this road in hopes of transferring to UCB or UCLA in order to earn an undergraduate degree in Media Studies or Communication, respectively.

As a member of both the Latinx and LGBTQIA+ communities, it is my personal belief that representation and inclusivity for all should remain a top priority. As so, I am running for the Inter-Club Council Co-Chair (ICC) position for the 2023-2024 academic school year. If elected, I will provide representation, guidance, support, and communication between Mt. SAC’s Recognized Student Clubs and Organizations (RSCOs) and the Associated Students (A.S.). Having worked in management positions over the course of eight years, I am confident that I maintain the professional experience that is necessary to be successful. This consists of a steady flow of thoughts and ideas for improvement, and I am able to use my voice in raising awareness for such topics. I will bring my expertise to every meeting as a voting member of the A.S. Executive Board in an effort to reinforce the greater good of Mt. SAC.

In this position, it is my goal to achieve the support for and passing of legislature that ensures the safety and well-being of all students. I will also monitor the rules and regulations that are upheld by Mt. SAC as they apply to RSCOs and abide by them accordingly and effectively. Thank you for your time, attention, and support!
